GUANGZHOU - A total of 7.25 million cubic meters of natural gas will be transported every day starting Saturday from south China's Guangdong Province to ease shortages in northern China.
According to Guangdong Natural Gas Grid Co, the natural gas jointly provided by PetroChina and China National Offshore Oil Corporation will meet the demands of daily use and heating for more than 1.5 million households in northern China.
The quantity can reach 9 million per day soon with upgraded facilities.
Thanks to ample gas sources from western China, seas and imports, gas transportation to Shenzhen and Hong Kong can be guaranteed as usual, and gas prices will remain stable, said Wu Qingbiao, honorary president of Guangdong Oil and Gas Association.
