Smartphone map provides location, direction to toilets in tourist spots

Chinese top tourism administration and an online map service provider jointly launched a function on a smartphone app that can find toilets in all 5A-level scenic spots and over 70 percent of 4A-level in China.
The function, a joint cooperating with China National Tourism Administration, was introduced on the app of amap.com. Tourists can find all public toilets within 2 km in the scenic spots through the system and it also recommends the routes.
"It's much easier and faster to find a toilet nearby after using the app," Zhao Wei, a guide from Xiamen, Fujian province, told People's Daily. He said his tourist groups often face embarrassment as they search for toilets.
It's reported that the system can provide the location information of over 500,000 toilets.
"Toilet managements should keep pace with the toilet construction. And utilizing technology for toilet revolution would benefit tourists indeed," an official of the tourism administration said.
In addition, the system would update the real-time information of nearby parking lots, restaurants and ticket office, helping tourists enjoy their trip.
