FUZHOU - An undersea pipeline started delivering fresh water from Chinese mainland's coastal province of Fujian to Kinmen, a small island of Taiwan, on Sunday morning.
The source of the water-diversion project is located at the Longhu Lake in Jinjiang city, the second largest lake of Fujian.
The 28-km pipeline is able to provide 34,000 cubic meters of water daily to alleviate the water shortage there. The capacity can be expanded to 55,000 cubic meters in future.
Investment for the water project totalled 388 million yuan (57 million US dollars).
