Forensic science conference opens in Shandong

An international conference aiming to increase communication among forensic scientists and improve the quality of legal services opened in Yantai, eastern China's Shandong province, on Monday.
After the opening ceremony, Henry Chang-yu Lee, one of the world's most renowned forensic scientists, delivered a speech on artificial intelligent applications for forensic investigation.
More than 200 experts from home and abroad, including from India, Russia and the United States, are attending the two-day conference, which has been organized by the Silk Road Forensic Consortium, the Yantai government and BGI, a genomic corporation based in Shenzhen.
Members of the consortium, established in October 2016 in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, and other participants will take part in several forums, such as DNA applications and forensic education, and exchange forensic studies and challenges.
Since the consortium was set up, such conferences have been held twice in Shaanxi over the past two years.
