Zhang Wanting, born in the 1990s, returned home five years ago after graduating from an Australian university. Following her mother's suggestion, she first accepted an offer to teach finance at a college. But two years later, she decided to give up the graceful urban life and chose to work as a farmer. Now, she and her family run one of the most popular ecofarms in the city of Shenyang, Northeast China's Liaoning province, which attracted over 200,000 visitors last year and helped provide over 1,000 jobs. She calls the farm the Paddy Art Dream Park.
"This dreamland belongs to you, me, my family and all people who enjoy nature. It is also one small part of the Chinese dream," she said.
