Cybersecurity sector booms in Beijing

Beijing's cybersecurity industry is booming, with its industrial scale hitting 64.52 billion yuan ($9.8 billion) last year. The industry recorded an average annual growth of about 14.4 percent during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), and its industrial scale accounted for 41 percent of the country's total in 2019, according to figures released at a national cybersecurity industry forum. Beijing now accounts for about 50 percent of the country's cybersecurity companies, with five of the top 10 located in the capital.

Hongqi sees strong surge in car sales

Sales of Hongqi, a car brand under China's leading automaker FAW Group Co Ltd, have more than doubled in the first 11 months of the year to 178,100 units, the company said on Tuesday. In November alone, the automaker sold 25,000 Hongqi cars, up 100 percent on a yearly basis, indicating a rising demand for the vehicles. In recent years, FAW Group has boosted the expansion of its product portfolio. The new Hongqi SUV E-HS9, which targets the high-end auto market, is scheduled to hit the market this month.
