Anhui reports 15 new infections on Tuesday

Anhui province reported 15 asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing total infections to 24 in the province's current outbreak, the provincial health commission said on Wednesday.
Of the 24, which were all asymptomatic carriers, 19 were registered in Suzhou, two in Huaibei and three in Hefei, the commission said.
The current outbreak emerged on Sunday, when three cases were detected in Sixian county of Suzhou. The province had reported no infections for weeks.
Nanjing, in neighboring Jiangsu province, reported four infections as of 5 pm on Tuesday — two confirmed cases and two asymptomatic carriers — the city's health commission said on Tuesday. The four are relatives of people whose infections were reported earlier in Sixian county.
An effort to trace contacts and hidden infections is underway.
On Monday, Hefei launched citywide COVID-19 testing to curb the spread of the virus.
