Xi busy meeting world leaders

PRESIDENT XI JINPING:
? As close neighbors, both China and Japan are important countries in Asia and in the world, and they enjoy a great many shared interests and vast room for cooperation. The importance of Sino-Japanese relations has remained unchanged and will not change. China stands ready to work with Japan to strategically handle bilateral ties to build a relationship that meets the demands of the new era.
? Both countries should treat each other with sincerity and good faith, abide by the principle of the four political documents, draw on historical experiences and view each other's development in an objective and rational manner. China and Japan should maintain in their policies the political consensus of treating each other as cooperative partners and seeing each other as no threat.
? The questions related to history and Taiwan matter to the foundation of the countries' relations, and Japan should honor its commitments and properly handle them. China allows no other countries to interfere in its domestic affairs under any pretext.
? In terms of maritime and territorial disputes, both countries should abide by the principles and consensus they reached and properly handle differences with political wisdom and responsibility.
? The two should also adhere to strategic independence and good-neighborliness, resist conflict and confrontation, and practice true multilateralism to jointly deal with global challenges.
