Maritime-air rescue drill held in Hainan

China conducted a large-scale maritime-air rescue drill in Hainan province on Wednesday, showcasing the country's latest advancements in maritime rescue technology and capability. The exercise, organized by China Rescue and Salvage under the Ministry of Transport, featured a fleet of specialized rescue vessels and helicopters, underscoring China's growing capabilities in ocean rescue and salvage. The drill, which occurred in the provincial capital Haikou, covered key rescue scenarios, including search and rescue for people overboard, rapid helicopter evacuation for medical emergencies and deep-sea scanning operations.

Grads from elite colleges can enlist in military

In an effort to attract top talent, China will recruit graduates from elite universities as military and armed police officers, according to the military authority. Starting on Thursday, graduates from over 100 universities included in the country's "Double First-Class Initiative" are eligible to apply online for listed vacancies, according to a recent circular from the Central Military Commission. Graduates from other selected universities can apply for a limited number of vacancies in specialized fields urgently needed for military construction, noted the circular. The document assures fairness and impartiality in the selection process.
