Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management has responded to reports of individuals masquerading as school officials, cautioning the public against false representations.

In a statement released on Monday, the school clarified that all faculty information is available on its website, and urged the public to verify details through official channels. The school also stated that any unlawful behavior should be reported to the authorities to safeguard legitimate rights, with the institution reserving the right to pursue legal action.

The issue came to light when netizens found that a WeChat public account, allegedly from Haining Shangchuan Business Development Company, falsely announced the establishment of a branch of Tsinghua's School of Economics and Management in Zhejiang province. The launching ceremony, which reportedly took place on Sunday, claimed the presence of Cao Yulei as the school's dean. Further investigation confirmed that no such individual is associated with the school, with the actual dean being Bai Chongen, The Paper, a Shanghai-based news outlet, reported.

Cao has been involved in various public activities as the dean, including a visit to a security company in Shengzhou, Zhejiang, in April and participating in a so-called Tsinghua senior executive MBA program, The Paper reported.
