On July 9, a China-Europe freight train loaded with 1,159 metric tons of photovoltaic modules departed from the Zhongding Logistics Park Station in Shanxi province, bound for Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. This marks Shanxi's first trans-Caspian railway-sea intermodal China-Europe freight train.

The train will travel 6,915 kilometers via both land and sea routes. Departing from Shanxi, it will exit through the Horgos Port in Xinjiang, cross Kazakhstan, reach the Aktau Port on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, transfer to a ferry to cross the Caspian Sea, and disembark in Baku for clearance, with the entire journey taking approximately 20 days.

"To ensure the smooth operation of the China-Europe freight train from Zhongding Logistics Park to Baku, we prioritize station entry and loading and strictly adhere to operational standards and safety measures, ensuring the timely and safe departure of the train," said Li Shenglong, manager of the Jinzhong branch of Shanxi Zhongding Logistics Group Co.

The "trans-Caspian" route serves as a new logistics corridor connecting China's central and western regions with the Caucasus, the Black Sea region, and the heart of Europe. The launch of this China-Europe freight train not only enhances cost-effectiveness for Shanxi's photovoltaic enterprises but also reinforces Shanxi's role as a beacon for inland opening-up.
