Gansu sets up team to probe abnormal blood lead levels in children

Gansu province set up a team on Saturday to carry out an elevated investigation into the case involving abnormal blood lead levels in children at a kindergarten in Tianshui city.
The team is led by the main officials at the government and provincial committee of the Party, with participation from the provincial discipline inspection commission, the departments of education, public security, ecology and environment, as well as the health commission and the market supervision administration.
Experts from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Health Commission, and other ministries have also been invited to participate in the probe.
The food safety office of the State Council has dispatched a working group to guide and supervise the investigation.
The results of the probe will be made public.
Eight people have been detained after more than 200 children of the kindergarten were found to have abnormally high levels of lead in their blood.
