Han and Tang splendor

The latest installment of Ink Splendor and Cultural Context, an ongoing exhibition project since 2023 at the National Art Museum of China, sheds light on the political, economic, social and cultural scenes of the period between the Han (206 BC-AD 220) and Tang (618-907) dynasties. Featuring more than 130 artifacts from 12 museums and cultural institutions in Henan province, it traces the history of Zhongyuan, or the Central Plains area, which covers modern-day Henan and parts of its neighboring provinces — the cradle of Chinese civilization. The exhibition opened on Sept 19 and will run until Dec 14. The Ink Splendor and Cultural Context series has so far presented several acclaimed exhibitions in collaboration with museums across the country.

9 am-5 pm, closed on Mondays. 1 Wusi Dajie, Dongcheng district, Beijing. 010-6400-1476.
