Liaocheng, a city in East China's Shandong province steeped in history and culture, is celebrated as a "city of water", traversed by 23 rivers, including the Yellow River and the Grand Canal. This strategic position established it as a centuries-old hub for transportation and trade, leaving a rich legacy evident in its local cuisine.

An event aimed at exhibiting and selling Liaocheng's food kicked off in Qianmen, a vibrant commercial area, on Oct 24 and will run until Oct 31.

Multiple sites in Qianmen, including Guanghe Square and Xinchao Hutong Square, are showcasing Liaocheng's iconic foods and local products, as well as cultural and artistic items representing intangible cultural heritage.

By setting up the event in tourist-heavy Qianmen — which receives an average of over 100,000 tourists each day — organizers said they hope to introduce the unique flavors of Liaocheng and Linqing, a county-level city administered by Liaocheng, to visitors from across the country.
