China aims for positive outcomes from Busan meeting
China is willing to work with the United States to ensure that the upcoming meeting between the two heads of state yields positive outcomes, provides new guidance for stable development of bilateral relations, and injects new impetus into its growth, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday.
The Foreign Ministry announced that leaders of the two countries will meet in Busan, the Republic of Korea, on Thursday.
When asked about China's expectations for the meeting, Guo told a daily news briefing that head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic guiding role in China-US relations.
During the meeting, the two heads of state will have in-depth discussions on strategic and long-term issues concerning bilateral ties, as well as major international and regional issues of shared concern, he added.
