BEIJING - The Copyright Protection Center of China has deleted more than 400,000 unauthorized Internet audio and?video links since June 2010, according to a statement released Wednesday.

As part of the country's efforts to crack down on rampant copyright infringements, the center launched services for both domestic and overseas copyright owners last summer. Since then, it has detected more than 410,000 links of copied video and audio materials and deleted 97 percent of them, the statement said.

Copyright owners are informed by letter if infringements on their works are found by the center's round-the-clock monitoring service. So far, more than 2,400 such letters have been sent.

The Chinese government has been cracking down on intellectual property violations by launching frequent, high-profile raids and campaigns. From October 2010 to June, authorities seized more than 13 million illegal audio and video products and print publications in a nationwide campaign, according to the General Administration of Press and Publication.
