BEIJING -?A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman on Wednesday reiterated China's "firm" stance on non-proliferation, saying China closely adheres to relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Spokesman Hong Lei made the remarks at a daily press briefing when asked to comment on reports that a Hong Kong-based company was blacklisted by the UN Security Council for exporting arms to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

"I do not know the company's background, but I need to point out that China strictly follows relevant UN Security Council resolutions," Hong said.

He added that China has strict legal and law enforcement systems on non-proliferation.

Early on Wednesday (Beijing Time), the UN Security Council adopted a resolution condemning the DPRK's satellite launch on December 12, 2012.

UN Security Council Resolution 2087 requires the DPRK to comply with all relevant resolutions approved by the Security Council and not use ballistic missile technology for any launches.

The resolution also reiterates that a peaceful, diplomatic and political resolution to relevant issues should be sought, and it advocates the resumption of the six-party talks on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
