Guangzhou police issue statement debunking rumors

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-07-02 21:42

The Guangzhou police issued a notice on its website on Monday that two recent online postings about rape were not true.

One posting said that six black people gang-raped a Chinese man in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.

Another posting said several black people raped and killed their cellmate in a Guangzhou jail.

Authorities from the Guangzhou public security bureau said the police will investigate the cases of making up and spreading rumors online.
