Four recent corruption cases

Bo has been charged with taking bribes, embezzlement and abuse of power, according to the Jinan People's Procuratorate in Shandong province. According to the indictment, Bo abused his position to seek benefits for others and accepted bribes in the form of property and large sums of money. The indictment was delivered to Jinan Intermediate People's Court on July 25. Bo's trial will start on Thursday.

 

 

 

Liu Zhijun, 60, former minister of railways

Four recent corruption cases

Liu, minister from 2003-2011, was sentenced to death, suspended for two years, on July 8 after being convicted of bribery and abuse of power. The court found that from 1986 to 2011, Liu took advantage of his position as an official of local railway bureaus, as well as minister, to help 11 people gain promotions and contracts for projects. Liu accepted a total of 64.6 million yuan ($10.52 million) in bribes from them during that period.

 

 

 

Liu Tienan, 59, former deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission and ex-head of the National Energy Administration

Liu "took advantage of his position to seek profit for others, and both Liu and his family accepted huge amounts in bribes", according to the CPC's disciplinary watchdog. He is now under judicial investigation.

 

 

 

 

Huang Sheng, 59, former deputy governor of Shandong province

Four recent corruption cases

Huang was sentenced to life in prison in May for accepting bribes worth more than 12.23 million yuan from organizations and individuals between 1998 and 2011. He was the first high-ranking official to be jailed on corruption charges after the 18th National Congress of the CPC.
