A new series of textbooks about the Nanjing Massacre have been published in the city.

Officials in the city say the new textbooks are designed to help today's students better understand what took place in China's former capital during the Japanese invasion.

Zhu Chengshan is the curator of Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall.

"I think the textbooks are more suitable for students, as they have vivid pictures and more stories in them. We have also invited psychologists and educators to check the content, so the textbooks are carefully complied."

China's top legislature this year ratified two national memorial days in February - September 3 and December 13, to mark the victory over Japan and the Nanjing Massacre.
