Jilin is briefly named as Ji, with Changchun as its provincial seat. Jilin is an important industrial and agricultural production base in China. Jilin has formed an industry system composed mainly of automobile, railway coaches, petrochemical production and electric power. Automobile, petrochemical, food, medicine and electronics are pillar industries of the province. Rice, maize and sorghum are main grain crops in the area. In 2008, Jilin’s GDP totaled RMB 642.4 billion, with the first industry totaling RMB 91.67 billion, secondary industry RMB 306.463 billion and tertiary industry RMB 244.273 billion. The per capita GDP is RMB 18,126.
吉林省簡稱吉，省會城市是長春。吉林省為中國重要的工農(nóng)業(yè)生產(chǎn)基地。工業(yè)形成了以汽車、鐵路客車、鐵合金、石油化工、電力等為主的工業(yè)體系。汽車、石油化工、食品、醫(yī)藥、電子等是該省的支柱產(chǎn)業(yè)。水稻、玉米、高粱為主要農(nóng)業(yè)作物。2008年吉林省地區(qū)生產(chǎn)總值完成6424億元，第一、二、三產(chǎn)業(yè)分別實現(xiàn)916.7億元、3064.63億元、2442.73億元，人均GDP達18126元。
Jilin is rich in mountain resources, with a vast forest area, high ratio of vegetation cover and large mineral reserves. It is also abundant in petroleum, natural gas and coal. The western part of Jilin is at the center of Songnen Grassland and is one of the most famous grassland in China. Known for its rich guinea grass, it is the major production area of northern-China cattle and fine wool sheep.
吉林省山地資源豐富，林地面積廣闊，植被覆蓋率高，礦產(chǎn)儲藏量大。石油、天然氣、煤炭的儲量也很豐富。吉林省西部地處松嫩草原中心，是我國著名的草原之一，以盛產(chǎn)羊草而馳名中外，也是國家北方商品牛、細毛羊主要產(chǎn)地之一。
