It's a great that the talented but armless Beijing pianist Liu Wei has won China's first-ever "China's Got Talent" competition.

This remarkable young man, still only 23, had already won five national medals for his great efforts at swimming, no easy feat for a person without arms. Now he has gone on to share his love of piano and singing with huge and appreciative audiences.

It was a great, too, to see our disabled brothers and sisters were welcomed to this competition. The efforts of Liu left many audiences with a lump in the throat. In a world dominated by prejudice against the physically and mentally challenged, Liu's courage and ambition show just what can be achieved through courage and dedication. May his efforts encourage people to do their best in their chosen fields.

And may it encourage the rest of us to appreciate the heights that can be achieved by anyone if the right of spirit is applied. I have a feeling that this brave young man will go far in his life's journey. Warmest congratulations to him on his supreme efforts.
