HOUSTON - A US soldier accused of plotting a bomb attack on Fort Hood army base troops was found guilty on all charges Thursday.

Naser Jason Abdo was found guilty of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, attempted murder and four other charges, local newspaper the Austin American-Statesman reported.

Abdo, a Muslim soldier, faces up to life in prison for his conviction of attempted use of weapon of mass destruction, the paper said. Sentencing is set for this summer.

Abdo was accused of planning to bomb a Chinese buffet frequented by soldiers at the nearby army base Fort Hood. Prosecutors said he was planning to launch his attack around lunchtime to cause maximum number of casualties.

Prosecutors said Abdo was just hours away from assembling a bomb when he was arrested on July 27, 2011.

Fort Hood was the scene of a shooting rampage in 2009 that claimed 13 lives. US military psychiatrist Nidal Hasan opened fire on unarmed soldiers who were preparing for deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan Nov 5. More than 30 others were injured.
