Restaurant fire: One person taken into custody
The person in charge of the operation at a restaurant where a deadly fire killed at least 22 people on Tuesday has been taken into custody, local publicity authority in Liaoyang city, Northeast China's Liaoning province, said, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The blaze broke out at 12:25 pm near a residential building in the city's Baita District. So far, the incident has resulted in 22 deaths and left three people injured.
After the incident, the local provincial and municipal governments organized work groups for firefighting and rescue, medical treatment for the injured, and post-incident response, Xinhua reported.
A total of 22 fire trucks and 85 firefighters were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the blaze and conduct rescue operations, and nearby residents were evacuated.
The on-site rescue operations have now concluded.
